ATI today introduced and began shipping a new PCI Express graphic card, the FireGL V5000 workstation graphics accelerator.

The FireGL V5000 features a RV410 (X700) and 128 MB GDDR3 128 bits memory clocked at 425 MHz, dual DVI connectors for multi-display applications (maximum resolution of 3840*2400 pixels) and 1 stereoscopic connector. The price of the FireGL V5000 (US $699) is also justified by specific drivers certified for Discreet 3dsmax, Autodesk VIZ 2005, Catia, Maya, Softimage |XSI and SolidWorks.

Here are for your information, GPU and memory frequencies for ATI professional and general user’s graphic cards:

    - FireGL V3100 : X600 Pro clocked at 400/200 MHz
    - FireGL V3200 : X600 XT clocked at 500/400 MHz
    - FireGL V5000 : X700 Pro clocked at 425/425 MHz
    - FireGL V5100 : X800 Pro clocked at 450/350 MHz
    - FireGL V7100 : X800 XT clocked at 500/450 MHz.

     Forged MSI 6800GT ?

GeForce 6800GTs PCI Express have been released in shops since a few days. MSI is one of the first manufacturers to release 6800GT PCI Express graphic cards with the NX6800GT-T2D256E. The only problem is that some of the graphic cards don’t have 6800GT, but GeForce 6800 GPUs!

All graphic cards have 256 MB GDDR-3 memory and NV45 graphic chips (NV40 + PCI Express <-> AGPHSI bridge). Riva Tuner, however, reports the following configuration: 12 pixel pipelines, 5 vertex engines, which corresponds to a 6800, instead of 16 pixel pipelines and 6 vertex engines for a 6800 GT.

Several users in France came across these graphic cards and in Germany our colleague from techPowerUp also reported that the shop MIPS had received some of these graphic cards. Our colleague attempted to activate additional units but graphic artefact showed up, proof that this isn’t a bios problem and that these NV40 GPUs are certified for 6800 and not 6800GT.
