Intel has announced via a PCN (Product Change Notification) that Core 2 Extreme QX9650 processors will make the change from C0 to C1 stepping starting March 3rd. As for the S-Spec, it evolves from S LAN3 to SLAWN and the CPUID is now 0x00010677 versus the previous 0x00010676.
Officially, there is no electrical or TDP modification but the new revision will still necessitate a bios update. In practice, it will be interesting to observe if the Core 2 Q9xxx will also receive this new stepping and if the Yorkfield C1 will behave exactly like the C0. |
