According to the the Inquirer, NVIDIA will release a chipset for AMD's future 4x4 platform. As explained in this news, the Athlon 64 FX 70 will use the Socket F of the Opterons but won't have to resort to the very expensive ECC registered memory.
Additionally to the support of AMD's quad core solutions (4x4 and Barcelona), the nForce 680a will also have 4 PCI-E graphic slots: two 16x and two 8x. Four Gigabit Ethernet and 12 Serial ATA ports will make possible to run two sets of hard rives in Raid5.
According to the same source, the explanation of this excess of connectors would be due to the fact that the nForce 680a contains in fact two nForce 590SLI connected by a HyperTransport bus.
USB hubs manufacturers will be sad to hear that it will feature approximately 20 USB inputs.
