Just a little over one month after the release of the Core 2 Duo (see our article), the availability of these processors continue to be critical. If the 2 MB of cache versions like the E6300 and E6400 are easily found in shops, this isn't the case of the E6600, E6700 and X6800.
Of course this isn't a "paper launch", which mean a product release without real availability but it is more an inadequacy between the stocks and the very high demand whether if it is for the distribution or the integration.
We have contacted Intel about this problem and the manufacturer confirmed us that the supplying of Core 2 Duo was difficult and that things should improve from today to mid-September, especially regarding the E6600 which is the most sought after. |

After Dell, it is now the turn of Apple to recall batteries. Same cause, same effect. These are the lithium-ion batteries made by Sony for Apple that are recalled. The reason of this recall is the presence of metal impurities that might produce in a few rare cases a short circuit leading to overheat and possibly a risk of fire.
It concerns no less than 1.4 million of battery sold with the iBook G4 12", Powerbook G4 12 and 15" notebook computers manufactured from October 2006 through August 2006. To have more information, go to this page. |
