Some of the motherboards have a very annoying downside, the chipset fan noise level - A8N SLI owners know exactly what I’m talking about. ABIT was so far one of these motherboards makers with the Fatal1ty motherboard series. These motherboards feature one chipset fan additionally to two for the processor power supply bloc.
The manufacturer today announced a new fanless efficient cooling technology for chipsets. For this technology, ABIT uses an aluminium radiator with a copper base and a second copper radiator located at the usual COM and Parallel port spot. The two of them connects via a heatpipe and the airflow is ensured by the processor fan. The first Silent OTES motherboards should be announced in May. |

The S2-IS replaces as you may have probably already guessed the S1-IS. The camera body is so much look alike that (pretty massive) it are almost identical to the S1-IS. Internal elements have however all been upgraded. The sensor changes to 5 from 3 megapixels, there is still a Vari-Angle LCD screen but it is bigger (1.8” diagonal instead of 1.6”), the optical zoom is now 12X instead of 8, wide angle is reduced from 38 to 36 mm and the new one is a little bit brighter (F2.7). It is also important to mention the new Digic II processor, faster than the previous one. The camera would be apparently 50% faster to switch on and focus.
The S2-IS is also a little bit heavier (from 469 to 505 grams) and more expensive than the S1-IS. The S1-IS MSRP is currently at $349 and the S2-IS will be released end of May at $499. |
