Fusion-io has announced that it will be deploying two storage solutions based on its ioMemory technology capable of faster than 1 TB/s bandwidth with latencies of under 0.05 ms. To achieve this, Fusion-io have combined 220 ioDrive Octals.

This PCI-Express x16 card can use up to 8 ioMemory modules and offer the capacity and performance of 8 ioDrives on one card. It can also attain a capacity of 5 TBs for 6 GB/s bandwidth with each Octal card running at 800,000 IOPS (4KB reads).

Fusion-io says that the solution only requires 220 servers housed in six racks compared to 792 I/O servers, 55440 disk drives, 396 SAN controllers… and 132 racks for a hard-drive based solution!
