A month and a half ago, we asked ourselves about the possible end of the price reduction of RAM memory. On the contrary, in the meantime, memory prices continued to fall to reach $1.72 and $3 for 64MB chips of DDR2-667 and DDR-400 memory (respectively 41.5% and 18.5% drop). We remind you that early January, the price of a DDR2-667 chip was $6.3. Since that date it has been divided by two. In shops, the price of 1GB of DDR2 memory should now get closer to 30€.
What about price evolutions in the weeks to come? At that price, it is likely that chips manufacturers are losing money and we can't imagine seeing other price cuts or even the stagnation at such low level. However, with the memory market, nothing is less certain! |
