Western Digital was offering two 2 TB drives up till now, one in the general consumer Caviar Green range with a 32 MB cache and the other in the business range with the RE4-GP (Raid Edition Green Power) with a 64 MB cache, both at 5400 rpm. Faced with increasingly strong competition, particularly from Seagate, WD is likely to release a 7200 rpm version of its 2 TB drive this summer. It will have four 500 GB platters and a 64 MB cache but no information has yet been given on price. To recap, the RE4-GP was announced at 257 euros.

Auzentech have announced the availability of a new rack designed for the Auzentech X-Fi Forte, Home Theater HD and cards in the X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro range from Creative Labs. The X-Fi Titanium I/O Drive uses the 5"1/4 format and, thanks to retractable buttons, is adapted to casings with a panel to shut them with. It has an RCAx2 analogue in, a microphone in as well as a headphones socket. It allows you to move straight from one X-Fi mode to another and activate CMSS3D as well as the X-Fi Crystaliser. It is now available in the Auzentech online store for $79.99 or it can be purchased with the X-Fi Forte for $199.99.

Zalman is showing a new cooler accessory designed for graphics cards and more particularly the ATI Radeon HD 4870 and 4890. Made of aluminium, it weighs 55 grams and is positioned on the card’s power stage. The “push-pin” system is used to attach it. This system is based on ATI’s stock design. The Zalman ZM-RHS90 should be available in the course of July for around 10 euros.
