Intel and Micron have announced the official opening of their new flash memory factory in Singapore. Part of their IM Flash joint venture, 1200 people will be employed at this USD 3bn investment.
The factory started production of 25nm memory on 300mm silicium wafers in mid-2010 and maximum capacity should be reached sometime this year. This is the second IM Flash memory factory, after the one in Lehi in Utah, at which the first 20nm chips were made. IM Flash also subcontracts part of its production to the Micron Manassas factory in Virginia. |
