Western Digital has just announced it has started delivery of its WD Caviar SE16 640 GB (WD6400AAKS) hard drive. This capacity is nothing exceptional in and of itself; however, it is attained using only 2 platters or 320 GB each.
Only Samsung offers drives with the same density on its SpinPoint F1 series which uses 320 to 333 GB platters on the 320, 640 and 1 TB versions (others use 250 GB platters). You may recall, the SpinPoint F1 1 TB was the top drive in our last hard drive survey.
Dell launches its 3008WFP-HC with a 6 ms IPS panel, new look, and wide gamut. The 30 inch wants to be the new high end product destined for personal use. Does this Dell model have what it takes?
