Each month, the Canadian manufacturer releases a new version of their drivers. The 5.8 includes the Certified Output Protection Protocol (COPP) to protect high definition numeric videos which has already been the subject of many articles.
Several bugs are fixed, but the bug which forbids other graphic cards than the Radeon X800 to read HD 1080 videos is still here.
4 ms response time panels used by ViewSonic for the VX924 are no longer exclusive. BenQ releases (at least, we have been waiting for quite some time now) the FP91V. The monitor characteristics are identical to the current VX924: 550:1 contrast ratio, 270 cd/m² brightness etc.
The bezel is less nice but the monitor price is lower: 395 €. ViewSonic’s monitor costs from €450 to €500. The monitor display quality should be identical to the VX924 tested here.
