     AGP to PCI-E adapter

Albatron is the first to release an adapter to branch an AGP graphic card to a PCI Express x16 slot type: the ATOP (for Agp TO Pcie). Apparently based on the NVIDIA AGP <-> PCI-E bridge, the HSI, the ATOP utilizes the usual principle of this type of adapters. Because of its size it can unfortunately only work with low profile (entry level) graphic cards and feature a VGA port to connect via the internal cable found in this type of graphic card when they feature VGA and DVI ports.

We don’t know yet the ATOP price or release date, but as entry level graphic cards cost around $50 we have some difficulties to understand the real benefit of this product. Of course, you will have to give up your GeForce FX 5200 AGP 8x 64 MB 64 bits Low Profile…its tough but you’ll get over it.
