A few days ago, NVIDIA removed the 196.75 WHQL drivers from its site. Various users were complaining of a fan fault leading to overheating or even permanent damage.
The recommendation from NVIDIA was to remove the drivers and install the previous version, the 196.21s. Since this morning, another alternative has been made available for GeForce owners. NVIDIA has put a beta version online, the 197.13s, which corrects the problem. As the bug is common to all driver versions, the Linux version has also been updated and is now in version 195.36.15.
Of course this update is strongly recommended to all those who had installed the problematic driver version. The 197.13 beta drivers are available here. |
