MOSAID Technologies just announced that Matrox bought their memory controller to integrate it in future 90nm graphic chips. For those who were still wondering, Matrox will design a new GPU. We hope for Matrox that unlike the current range, it will be at least compatible with DirectX 9 to fully support Vista's Aero interface.
Now it is important to point out that Matrox isn't planning a coming back in the 3D performances high end segment. The MOSAID controller supports the DDR and DDR-2 up to a data rate of 1066 Mbps. The GDDR4 used for the X1950 XT goes up to 2000 Mbps.
