AMD is launching 5 new Opteron hexa-core processors. To recap, they work on Socket F and are engraved at 45nm. While the first hexa-cores had a thermal envelope of 75W, AMD is now marketing two versions, the 105W version for higher clocked chips and the 55W version for lower clocks.
For 4 to 8 Socket machines, AMD is launching the 8439SE (2.8 GHz and 105W) and 8425SE (2.1 GHz and 55W) and there are 3 other processors to complete the range for bi-Socket machines of which there are now 6 models:
- Opteron 2439SE : 2.8 GHz, 105W, $1019
- Opteron 2435 : 2.6 GHz, 75W, $989
- Opteron 2431 : 2.4 GHz, 75W, $698
- Opteron 2424 : 2.2 GHz, 75W, $455
- Opteron 2425HE : 2.1 GHz, 55W, $523
- Opteron 2423HE : ?? GHz, 55W, $455

AMD says that it will be launching several even more economic versions between now and the end of the year, as is the case with the Opteron "EE" quad-cores, all with a TDP of under 40W. Here is the quad-core bi-Socket range, for comparison:
- Opteron 2393SE: 3.1 GHz, 105W, $873
- Opteron 2389 : 2.9 GHz, 75W, $698
- Opteron 2387 : 2.8 GHz, 75W, $523
- Opteron 2382 : 2.6 GHz, 75W, $316
- Opteron 2378 : 2.4 GHz, 75W, $174
- Opteron 2381HE : 2.5 GHz, 55W, $455
- Opteron 2379HE : 2.4 GHz, 55W, $316
- Opteron 2374HE : 2.2 GHz, 55W, $174
- Opteron 2377HE : 2.3 GHz, 40W, $698
- Opteron 2373EE : 2.1 GHz, 40W, $377
