After the release of the Phenom II X6s, AMD was set to launch an X4 based on the same die, the Phenom II X4 960T. With a base clock of 3 GHz, with Turbo CORE mode taking it up to 3.4 GHz, this processor had raised interest with development by various motherboard manufacturers of bios’ allowing the unblocking of the two remaining cores, without of course any guarantee that they’ll be functional.
AMD has however announced on Legit Reviews that even though samples of this processor do exist, it won’t be launched commercially, except perhaps for some OEMs with specific requirements. Bad news for those lusting after this CPU with a view to getting an X6 on the cheap. Remember though that the Phenom II X6 1055T costs under €200. |
