According to our colleagues at VR-Zone, AMD has finally revised its nomenclature which was initially intended to replace the P-Rating:

Note that in the end the firm preferred to reserve the Phenom brand for tri- and quad cores and the Kuma was relegated to an Athlon.

More specifically for the Phenoms, their frequencies and precise numbering seems to have been abandoned, at least for the first models that will arrive at the end of year. You may recall they will all be placed in a Socket AM2+ and will have 4 x 512 KB of L2 cache and 2 MB of L3. Let’s just hope that AMD can quickly raise their frequencies.

Logo Nvidia New beta ForceWare 163.75 for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows XP & Vista has been available for several hours now on nZone. As usual, all desktop GeForce 6/ 7/ 8 are supported as well as the GeForce FX with Windows XP.

In terms of improvements, besides support of the recent IGP GeForce 7xx0 - nForce 6x0i, Nvidia also mentions enhanced compatibility in Half-Life 2: Episode 2, new SLI profiles for Portal, Clive Barker's Jericho, SEGA Rally Revo, NHL 08 and European Street Racing, and of course the correction of various bugs.

According to information at Digitimes coming from graphic card manufacturers, the release of the GeForce 8800 GT (alias G92) has been moved up to October 29th when it was initially planned for November 12th.

The main reason is the upcoming and close release of the Radeon HD 2950 Pro. The two rival solutions offer relatively similar performance/price ratios and Nvidia therefore wanted a small head start on its competitor. We have to add that Nvidia can allow itself this move because according to our sources the cards should already be ready with manufacturers in the beginning of November.
