After strong price cuts since the end of January, memory prices seem to have been stabilized. Since our last news March 22, DDR-266, 333 and 400 32 MB chips prices have respectively been reduced by -4, -1 and increased by +3%. We have notice, however, that DDR2 prices continue to decrease with -8% for 32 MB of DDR2-533 and -10% for the 64 MB version. A DDR2-533 chip is still though 71% more expensive than a DDR.
Because of the usual shift due to existing stocks, memory modules prices in shops have continued to decrease. So if the price of 512 MB of DDR-400 was around 55€ for the first two months of the year, it decreased to 40€ last March 22 and it has now reached 36.5€.
Price cuts noticed for DDR memory modules in shops since the end of January are now equivalent to those of chips on the memory market. So it is probable that these prices remain unchanged for the weeks to come. |

Following an agreement with NVIDIA, Corsair has equipped all test computers with nForce 4 SLI chipsets. After the chipset announcement, Corsair has made another one to give the list of all products certified for this platform:
- CM2X512A-5400UL / TWIN2X1024A-5400UL DDR2-675 in 3-2-2-8 - CM2X512A-6400 / TWIN2X1024A-6400 DDR2-800 in 5-5-5-12 - VS512MB667D2 / VS1GBKIT667D2 DDR2-667 in 5-5-5-15 - VS512MB533D2 / VS1GBKIT533D2 DDR2-533 in 4-4-4-8
Amongst these memory modules, the first three are new. Unfortunately, Corsair hasn’t communicated any additional information on them especially the 5400UL. Indeed the one we have received for one of our test didn’t work in 3-2-2 with the initial 1.8 voltage and we had to increase it to 2.0V. It is interesting to notice also that this memory module has easily reached the DDR2-960 mode with of course rather high timings of 5-5-5.

A few months after Samsung and Hyundaï, Iiyama releases a 19” TN 8 ms monitor, the ProLite E480S. Iiyama only indicates the monitor characteristics but not the panel manufacturer. It is simple: they are strictly identical to the Hyundaï L90D+. Contrast ratio 700:1, brightness 300 cd/m² and horizontal/vertical viewing angle 150°/135°. These characteristics correspond to the Samsung panels included in these two products.
The ProLite E480S is already available in Europe for 429 €. This price is the same that the Hyundaï L90D+. The Samsung SyncMaster 913N price has however been strongly reduced and is now often around 400€. |
