AnandTech had the very good idea to take a look at the compatibility of current motherboards and future Kentsfield processors equipped with four cores to be released in November. Asus, MSI, Gigabyte and ECS sent a list of available and certified compatible motherboards.
Most of the motherboards of these manufacturers equipped with Intel P965 Express or 975x chipsets will be compatible with a bios update. Some of the products, however, will only be compatible with a revision of the current model that will be released in October/November.
DFI will send a list soon, Biostar doesn't have yet a Kentsfield compatible motherboard in production and ABIT chose not to answer. This will remind bad memories (news in French) to some of you.
It is however important to keep in mind that the price of the Kentsfield will be, at least initially, closer to the Pentium Extreme Edition than the cheap general public processor. |
