     Crysis 2 multiplayer demo available

Crytek has just made available the much-anticipated multi-player demo for Crysis 2. The 1.6 GB download is available from Electronic Arts or NVIDIA.

Crysis 2 has got us all going with its hardware pretensions, both CPU and graphics card. The demo doesn’t however reveal much on this point as the graphics settings have been reduced to a minimum and you have the choice of pre-set modes (Gamer, Advanced and Hardcore) which obviously don’t push the hardware to the limit. The demo runs only in DirectX 9 with reduced textures (and no doubt reduced effects). To give you some idea, we got 30 fps with a GeForce GTX 460 at 1680x1050.

The full release, which will support DirectX 11, is slated for March 25 in Europe.

     Corsair Hydro Series H60

Corsair took the opportunity of the opening of CeBIT in Hanover to extend its range of general consumer watercooling kits. After launching a high end model last summer, Corsair has added an intermediary model, the H60, between the two existing models.

Like the H50, it has a 27mm thick radiator, but with a new 12 cm fan underneath. The water block base is very compact, like on the H70. Corsair says that it has reworked its water block with a much denser fin array. Note that with the new cold plate, liquid enters the circuit in the centre and not the sides.

Compatible with all general consumer sockets (775, 1155/6, 1366, AM2/3), the kit has been announced at $79 in the US.
