Today, we know a little bit more about Intel's quad core initially scheduled early 2007 and then pulled into Q1 2006. According to eWeek, who confirmed some information in our possession, Intel could release the quad core early November.
The Kentsfield (this is the processor code name) will be based on two Core 2 dies included in the same packaging. This processor which belongs to the Extreme Edition line will be priced as usual at $999 and clocked at 2.66 GHz to keep a reasonable thermal envelope.
Now, more than this Extreme(ly) expensive version, this is most of all the democratisation of the Quad Core which is expected, even if it is important to know that softwares are far from really using four cores.
