AMD is making the most of CES to launch a new range of mobile GPU, the Mobility Radeon HD 5000s. No less than 3 40nm DirectX 11 GPUs are being launched, with 1.04 billion, 626 million and 242 million transistors respectively. These GPUs will be used within 4 distinct ranges:

- Mobility Radeon HD 5800 (800 stream processors)
- Mobility Radeon HD 5700 (400)
- Mobility Radeon HD 5600 (400)
- Mobility Radeon HD 5400 (80)

The most attentive among you will have noted that the largest of the GPUs has the same number of transistors and processing units as Juniper that is in the desktop Radeon HD 5700, but which here is called Mobility Radeon HD 5800...

The GPU that equips the Mobility Radeon HD 5700/5600 is likely to be similar to the next desktop GPU for the Radeon HD 5600. Damien will give more detail on this launch tomorrow from Las Vegas!
