We were telling you about the mystery card from EVGA yesterday that has two 1366 sockets. We’ve learned a little more about it.

As we were saying, the card will only be compatible with the Intel Xeon processors. For the time being it will be “limited” to a bi-quad core configuration but it is very likely that Gulftown (alias i7-980X) will be rolled out in this range. It will then be possible to set up a machine with 12 physical cores and 24 logical cores!

There are seven PCI Express 16x slots on the card, cabled thanks to two NVIDIA NF200 chips. Those of you who like to push the benchmarks will then be able to give yourselves over to the joys of a quad-sli to attempt new records. You’ll be helped by the fact that there are 12 memory slots (6 per processor).

There will also be 2 USB 3.0 ports, 2 SATA 6 Gb/s ports in addition to the standard USB 2.0 and SATA 2. We don’t doubt that the BIOS will be orientated towards overclocking and that the beast will come in at a price to match the (out)size of the configuration that’s installed!
