Freecom is the first external hard drive manufacturer to offer a solution with USB 3.0 support. The Freecom Hard Drive XS 3.0 offers speeds of "up to 130 MB/s", which is more than the best USB 2.0 solutions (limited to 60 MB/s max.) and FireWire 800 (limited to 80 MB/s max.). Several models will be available: 1, 1.5 and 2 TB, with the 1 TB model having been announced at 119 euros and available as of mid-November. Freecom will also be offering two controller cards to make the most of USB 3.0: a PCI-Express card at 25.95 euros and an Express Card at 29.95 euros.
