Initially planned for April 9, the Radeon HD 4890 should now appear as of April 2. To recap, this new card is in fact an evolution of the Radeon HD 4870 with clocks of 850/1950 MHz, namely 13% up on the GPU and 8% on the memory clock. The GPU clock is aided by a new 55 nm chip, the RV790, that allows you to go higher than the current RV770.
This card should allow ATI to position itself opposite the GTX 280 and 285 in terms of performances, while the 4870 was situated between the GTX 260+ and 280. So as to respond to this launch, NVIDIA looks set to launch a GTX 275 that would take its place between the GTX260+ and GTX 285.
