Title: Official catalyst drivers for Windows Vista
Description: ATI has released two versions of the Catalyst 7.1 drivers for Windows Vista, 32bit and 64bit, both certified WHQL. Except for the recent Mobility X1900, all Radeon DirectX 9.0 cards are supported from the Radeon 9500 to the X1950XTX and including the IGP.

The installation and suppression of the drivers should now be easier just as the updates that will be restricted to the parts that have been improved since the last update of the system. The Canadian manufacturer insists on the reduced load and response time of the Catalyst Control Center and on the lower amount of resources required (that was about time!). The preview of some of the 3D options has been improved compared to the version for Windows XP to facilitate the understanding of their visual influence.

These drivers also officialise the support with Windows Vista of:

- HD-DVD & Blu-Ray for cards featuring an HDMI connection but currently restricted to the 32 bit version of the OS.

- native OpenGL but ATI indicates that performances provided will soon be improved

- Crossfire for Radeon X1k cards, except in OpenGL. AFR will only be selected by defaults for all applications in a future version of the Catalyst.

Catalyst 7.1

If the graphic division of AMD still has some work to do to have the same level of functionalities than with the Windows XP version, the improvements brought to the CCC and the native support of OpenGL will please users waiting for a more complete version.
