Title: P6N Diamond: X-Fi and four PCI-E 16x
Description: Although the late APU disappeared from NVIDIA's chipsets with the nForce3, MSI kept in mind that gamers able to invest in a high end SLI configuration also like to have a high quality sound reproduction. This is the reason why the manufacturer announced the P6N Diamond, a motherboard equipped with nForce 680i SLI chipset but also with a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme chip. This isn't the first time that it happens as the collaboration of the two companies started a long time ago and MSI has already integrated Sound Blaster Live! and Audigy chips to previous motherboards.

Nevertheless, we don't know if the specifications in terms of sound quality with be identical to daughter boards or if MSI has had to lower them. It is also important to keep in mind that Windows Vista will no longer allow the acceleration of Direct Sound 3D by the DSP. This is, however, something that Creative should take care of.

Additionally to the sound chip, the P6N Diamond has four PCI-E 16x slots, but if one works at 16X the other three will be at 8X. To have a standard SLI, it is also possible to have two at 16X and a third at 8X.

The other specifications are quite close to other nForce 680i: six SATA II, one IDE but also one external eSATA additionally to the usual FireWire, network and USB hub. The last point is the price but if something is worth having, it is worth paying for…
