Title:
Abracadabra, nForce4 becomes nForce5
Description:
OCWorkbench
has denounced a common practice in the computer hardware world: the modification of a product name without changing its characteristics to update it. This time, NVIDIA is the target as the company changed the name of the nForce 4 SLI, nForce 4 Ultra and nForce 4 chipsets for AMD platform to nForce 500 SLI, nForce 500 Ultra and nForce 500. We have interrogated NVIDIA France and their representative confirmed us that these were the same chipsets with a different name. We believe that this is a good thing that NVIDIA kept these cheaper chipsets featuring less functions than the other nForce series 5, but we regret that they had to change their names because of a purely marketing issue.
We also found out that an nForce 520 would be released soon. It would be identical to the nForce 510 except that it will support 10 USB ports and 4 SATA instead of 8 and 2.
