Title:
ATI mobility Radeon X800
Description:
ATI announced today the release of two new laptops graphic chips, the Mobility Radeon X800 and X300. Both chips manage natively the PCI Express. The Mobility Radeon X800 has 12 pixel pipelines, 6 vertex engines and manage 256 bits memory, just like the desktop Radeon X800 Pro. The only difference between these two chips is the frequency. The Mobility is clocked at 400/400 instead of 475/450 for the X800 Pro. This chip will compete with the GeForce 6800 Go announced by NVIDIA a few days ago.
The Mobility Radeon X300 has 4 pixel pipelines and 2 vertex engines. The VPU is clocked at 350 MHz and the 32 or 64 MB 64 bits memory is clocked at 300 MHz. The X600 announced a few months ago already had the same unit’s number but the VPU and the 128 Bits memory were respectively clocked at 400 MHz and 250 MHz.
For the time being the only “laptops” compatible with these graphic cards are based on the i915P and the Pentium 4. The next Pentium M generation based on Intel’s Alviso will be released during the first quarter 2005. This new chipset will manage the DDR2 and PCI Express.
