Deneb chips to be christened “Phenom II” Posted on 13/11/2008 at 14:10 by Marc
When the new Opterons were being announced, AMD quietly made an allusion to the forthcoming 45nm desktop chips. We already know that the Denebs, their code name, will be announced officially on January 8, with clock speeds up to 3 GHz.
The innovation is that they will be named AMD Phenom II X4. As was the case with the first Phenoms which were integrated into the Spider (Phenom + 790FX + Radeon 38x0) platform, AMD is going to use the launch of the Phenom II to put a new platform called “Dragon” into place. It will consist of a Phenom II, a 790FX/790GX chipset and a Radeon HD 4000 series graphics card.
