Seagate, the hard drive leader, has never hidden its interest in SSDs and therefore unsurprisingly we hear from News.com that the manufacturer will launch itself on this market in 2009. In the beginning, Seagate SSDs will be destined for businesses.

In order to reassure this sector on the reliability of its SSDs, they are working with others in the JEDEC in order to develop a standard devoted to defining the endurance and life span of these products.
Seagate specifies that it does not plan on becoming a Flash memory manufacturer and is therefore in discussion with certain memory suppliers.
