So as to make its range more comprehensible in the eyes of the uninitiated (and less so for others), NVIDIA looks set to change the name of the GeForce 9 range. The GeForce 8s will be consigned to history and the cards currently known under the GeForce 9 range will now be called the G100, GT120, GT130, GT140 and the GT150, a naming system more in line with the current GTX 260 and 280.

The new wave of 45nm GPUs expected at the beginning of 2009 will be tagged GTX 2x0, GT 2x0, GS 2x0 and G 2x0 according to performance.
