Already competing on the SSD market, Transcend are bringing out some new higher performance models with a read speed of 159 MB/s and a write speed of 136 MB/s. The seek time is stated as being under a millisecond, nothing more than is to be expected for an SSD, and the capacity up to 64 GB. Available both as an SATA and an IDE, we unfortunately have no more information on these SSDs right now. How much they will cost, whether they will use SLC or MLC chips and when they will be out remains to be seen.
