As the launch of the Radeon HD 4400 and 4600 is quickly on its way to becoming a reality (in mid-October for the first and September 24th for the others), credible photos and information on ATI’s future mid range 55nm GPUs is starting to multiply.
From left to right, the reference RV730 XT, RV710 and RV730 Pro.As for specifications, for the RV730 there will be 320 stream processors and a 128 bit wide memory bus. The Radeon HD 4670’s GPU/memory frequencies will be roughly 750/1000 MHz for the version equipped with 512 MB of GDDR3 and 750/900 MHz for the one that has 1GB of DDR3. For the Radeon HD 4650, there will be 600 or even 650 MHz for the RV730 Pro while the frequencies for the 512 MB of DDR2 or DDR3 have not yet been confirmed.
One bit of good news is that at least one manufacturer will quickly launch a passive version of the latter. In fact, AMD’s graphic division is proving to be quite flexible because partners will be also authorized to overclock their products and adopt their own designs – and this whatever the model.
Finally, cards should be available the day of the official announcement. Otherwise, the aging Radeon HD 3850 will be repositioned a little lower in the product line and its price will be slightly less. This card should be around at least until the end of the year.
