With 94.4 million units sold in the second quarter of 2008, the graphic card market is in good health as there was a 16% increase compared to the same period last year according to Jon Peddie.
Intel is still largely in the lead thanks to its IGPs with a 47.3% market share versus 31.4% for Nvidia and 18.1% for AMD. Last year, the trio had a respective 37.6%, 32.5% and 19.5%. While Nvidia and AMD have lost a little, note the big gains by Intel which was mostly to the detriment of VIA/S3 (the latter falling from 7.7 to 1.1%!).
On the PC desktop, Intel attained 41.5% versus 36% for Nvidia and 18.3 for AMD. On the laptop market, which represents 37.4% of sales, the trio was at 57.1, 23.6 and 17.9%, respectively.
