In order to better position itself compared to AMD solutions, NVIDIA has decided to lower the prices of the GTX 260 and 280. The first will be reduced by $30 versus $ 90 for the latter or in other words 18.9 and 56.7 Euros taxes not included. In the end, the GTX 260 and 280 should quickly go under 300 and 450€, respectively.
So here is a good thing, even if it may not be enough to counter the Radeon HD 4870, which is superior to the GTX 260 and priced at only 250 Euros. Can NVIDIA proceed with further price reductions? It’s not sure given the high production costs of the GT200 and the cards equipped with it.
