Ultra Products has just filed a case against the majority of modular power supply manufacturers as the company claims that it has the patents on this technology. Filed on September 8th, 2004 and approved on November 7th, 2006 the companies in questions have since then been notified of the existence of patent #7133293 but theoretically they did not find an agreement with Ultra Products.

Antec, Channel Well, Corsair, Enhance, E-Power, SPI, FSP Group, Koolance, Mushkin, OCZ, SeaSonic, Silverstone, Spire, Tagan, Thermaltake, Topower and Zalman are therefore being sued. We will have to wait and see if Ultra Products manages to win its case which means royalties on all modular power supplies sold by these brands.
