While Intel normally had up until Friday to respond to the formal formal complaint sent by Brussels at the end of July concerning the possible abuse of dominant position, Jonathan Todd, spokesperson for the European Commission, announced that an extension was granted. The Californian giant will now have until January 4th to share its point of view and possibly respond verbally.
The charges formulated by the division of Nellie Croes, European Commissioner for Competition, are everything but benign and these few extra weeks should be useful for the Santa Clara firm’s legal team. You may recall that this could result in a fine which could attain 10% of the company’s world annual revenue.
