Fusion-io, a company formed roughly a year ago and based in Salt Lake City, took advantage of the DEMOfall 07 to present its first product, the ioDrive. More specifically, this is a card in PCI-Express x4 (1.0 standard) format, equipped like SSDs with flash memory, and has a capacity which can attain 640 GB even if the price is $19000. Four other models are offered with memory sizes of 40, 80, 160 and 320 GB.
With reading/writing speeds of 600 and 800 MB/s, respectively, it well surpasses a large number of current storage solutions. Expected out in the first quarter of 2008, it will first and foremost be intended for the server and workstation market. Note that there is a current Beta program and it is still possible to participate. However, there is a selection process depending on your test environment and intended use. |
