In addition to dual cores models of the mobile Penryn, Intel also is planning a quad core version. Expected out in the second half of 2008, it should be placed on the Montevina platform.
Its TDP should be around 45 watts despite a FSB set at 1066 MHz and 12 MB of L2 cache. While the Socket P will still be current, differences in the position of pins compared to dual core versions will oblige laptop manufacturers to come up with other designs in order to meet the thermal and power demands of this processor. In the end, its integration could mean higher prices, which either way would already be the case.
