While visiting an exhibition show, we sometime find sympathetic products on exhibition stands of manufacturers unknown to us.

For this Computex, this is the case of SMK, a Japanese manufacturer who designs various elements such as power supply connectors, buttons, webcam sensors, remote controls…SMK exposes a Bluetooth remote control compatible with Windows Sideshow based on Nvidia's Preface platform that shows on the monitor the Gadgets of Windows Vista. Quickly, we saw the potential for a computer designed for multimedia. SMK, however, only makes the reference design to show to its clients (Sony, Philips etc.) what it is capable of and before possibly conceiving a personalized model. Also, the manufacturer doesn’t deal with the software part and hasn't developed a specific Gadget for this concept. Programs will have to be developed by other companies too.

We also saw another product with an interesting potential, a tactile monitor capable of transmitting sensations to the user. If we wonder what type of use it will have, we have to admit that the result is pretty convincing. There is a confirmation when touching the monitor that the command is accepted. For now, only average sized models are available but the manufacturer will sell other models for GPS, PDA and mobile phones.
