Paul Otellini, Intel CEO, unveiled the first quad core processors sales name and logos to be released in November. The first one, and we might have guessed, will be a Core 2 Extreme. A little bit later, early 2007, Intel will release the Core 2 Quad.

Surprisingly, Paul Otellini insisted on the fact that quadcores CPUs would improve game performance. This is unexpected as our current practical measurements show that games do not really take advantage of dual Core CPUs. The developer Remedy (Max Payne) has however showed a very good looking demonstration of Alan Wake that would be fully capable of using multicore CPUs.
