Core 2 Duo delayed ? Posted on 28/06/2006 at 17:14 by Marc

After the supposedly hardware threading, the Core 2 Duo is once more all around the web. This time, HKEPC announced that the Core 2 Duo release would be postponed from July 23 to July 27. Of my god, 4 days late!
But in fact, the 23rd of July is only the publication of the new price list and is always a Sunday. Intel has never released a product a Sunday. Product releases are always the following week.
The official release date, July 27, has been announced several weeks ago and it can be found in Intel's « press kit » including an i975X, a Core 2 Duo X6800 and a Core 2 Duo E6700.
However, the thing we can fear is that Intel must be under a lot of pressure for the Core 2 Duo supplying despite increased production capacities. Indeed, the demand is so high that OEM will probably be privileged at the expense of retail shops. Also, if OEMs do not receive enough quantities, they won't send their surplus to retail shops to feed the grey market as it is usually the case. We have to hope that this scenario will remain a fiction… |
