AMD quad core ES in 2007 Posted on 26/04/2005 at 16:09 by Marc
In an interview given to CRN, Hector Ruiz AMD CEO said that he was expecting to see the first AMD quad core processors in 2007. It would be engineering samples and not sales products. So, we can say without taking too many risks that such processors could be available in shops by 2008. This information tends to confirm the multi core as the future of x86 processors.
Now if a quad core processor will be fully exploited by a server / workstation, we have to hope that multithreaded software for general public will break through to have a minimum of interest compared to dual core processors already strongly restricted by software support in certain areas.
