AMD has updated their official processor roadmap. Here is the old roadmap (July) followed by the new one:

The roadmap indicates that AMD made some serious progress with 90nm fabrication process as it is already present in Athlon 64 Mobile and Sempron Mobile ranges. From now till the end of the year AMD should extend 90 nm fabrication process to the Opteron range with « Athens », « Troy » and « Venus » CPUs, respectively 8xx, 4xx and 2xx series. The first figure indicates the maximum number of processor that it is possible to use simultaneously.
During the first half 2005, AMD should release new 90nm cores for desktop and mobile Athlon 64 and Sempron ranges. This new cores will use the “E” revision of AMD’s K8 architecture which includes amongst other functionalities SSE3 instructions. During the second half 2005 new processors should also be released with Dual Cores for Athlon 64 and Opteron ranges. All these information were included in the previous roadmap except for the « Venice » processor.
We also noticed that during the second half, AMD is also planning to release the « Roma » and « Albany » processors for the Sempron Mobile range. We don’t know yet innovations introduced with these processors.
