OCZ has just announced the release of new DDR PC3200 memory modules, the EL DDR PC-3200 Gold VX. This memory module specificity is to be compatible with 3.5V voltages without invalidating OCZ life warranty.

Being compatible with high voltages is a good thing, but is it really useful? Well not really. These memory modules timings are certified at 2-3-3-8, 2.6V and 2-2-2-8, 3.2V, and it is possible to reach identical timings with Samsung’s « F-TCCD » chips but at 2.5V. It is also important to notice that only a few motherboards are able to provide such voltages even if it is also possible to use the OCZ Booster.

EL DDR PC-3200 Gold VX memory modules are available in single 512 MB or in 2x512 MB twin sets. The price is still unknown yet.
