ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Posted on 04/11/2004 at 15:55 by Marc
The Inquirer has just published some information on the new ATI chipsets for AMD Athlon 64 platform. So far known as RS480 and RX480, these chipsets will be released under the Radeon Xpress 200 name. The RS480 will have a graphic core based on the Radeon X300 using the main computer memory as video memory. It is possible to expect higher performances than the Intel’s i915G in this area.
These chipsets functionalities additionally to the management of one PCI Express 16X slot will be one PCI Express x1 slot, standard PCI slots, 8 USB slots, AC’97 sound, 4 S-ATA channels and two ATA channels working else in RAID 0 or 1. Apparently the network shouldn’t be directly managed by this chipset. The release of these chipsets will probably take place next week, whereas RS400 and RX400 for Intel P4 should be released later.
