Samsung announce today the release of the first mobile phone equipped with a 5 megapixels photo CCD sensor: the S250. The press release also mention Samsung’s technological prowess. This new release is made one year only after their first 1-megapixel camera phone and 3 months after their first 3.2-megapixel camera phone. Knowing that the first megapixels mobile phone should be available in Europe soon, we think that it might take a while before the 5 MP release.
The phone characteristics are: 92MB onboard memory and a 32MB auxiliary memory (RS-MMC memory format). The 2.0-inch screen displays 16Million-Color, it is possible to store up to 100 minutes of video (320x240) and the shutter speed is as fast as 1/1,000 th of a second. Other advanced functions in the S250 include an MP3 player, and a TV output to play video during shooting or to show footage that has already been recorded in the mobile phone.
