Corsair announce today the release of new DDR-550 (275 MHz) memory modules with timings certified at 2.5-4-4-8 for 275 MHz and 2.75V. Tests have been made on an i875P motherboard and Corsair also announced that these memory modules were also able to reach 2-2-2-5 at 200 MHz. They are however unable to certify these memory modules with this timing. Two versions are available: single 512 MB and TwinX 2x512 MB sets. These memory modules called 4400C25 are based on the Samsung TCCD chips already used on the Corsairs XMS 3200 XL.

Corsair already had 4400 memory modules but only certified in 3-4-4-8. The performance gap between the 2.5-4-4-8 and the 3-4-4-8 is small around 0.2% in practice. So this performance gap couldn’t justify and higher price and that is a good thing because they will be 25% cheaper. Samsung’s chips don’t have anti-dumping taxes unlike Hynix’s chips previously used.
