Sony was the last but one Aperture Grille cathode ray tube manufacturer (“Tron” grille technology). The last one was Nec-Mitsubishi. But it is over now, the Diamondtron production will stop this week. Mitsubishi already stopped the 17” production last year, but now it is the 19 and 22” turn. CRT screen fans will now have to fall back on LG’s Shadow Mask or Samsung’s Dot Mask, amongst others.
